Speed Demon Flees Police Not Once, But Twice

Christopher Marshall, 40, of Manchester, has been locked up for 28 months after making a daring getaway from cops on two separate occasions – including one terrifying incident with two young children in the car.

Marshall pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court to two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of driving while disqualified, and handling stolen goods.

First Chase: Reckless Driving at 80mph

Back in December 2023, a local neighbourhood officer spotted Marshall behind the wheel despite being disqualified. He sped off at 80mph, weaving through traffic, mounting pavements, and running red lights. The police had to call off the chase for safety reasons, but Marshall was later nabbed and charged.

Second Escape Puts Kids in Danger

Then, on 3 January 2025, Marshall was stopped again by police on patrol. But once again, he bolted – this time with two young children inside the car.

He mounted a kerb, clipped a passerby’s car, and forced an officer to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision. Officers chose not to pursue due to the kids on board. Marshall was arrested days later.

Police Warn Against Dangerous Driving

PC Mohammed Ditta, GMP: “We see the consequences of dangerous driving every day – from scrapes to serious injuries and deaths. Driving recklessly with children in the car was incredibly dangerous, and we’re lucky it didn’t end worse.” “Our neighbourhood team regularly patrols Gorton and surrounding areas, targeting crime wherever we find it.”
