A child rapist who groomed and sexually abused two teenage boys over several years has been jailed for nine years and six months.

William Power, 42, previously of Fort Road, Halstead, targeted the two victims between 2014 and 2018, committing offences including rape and sexual assault in Kent and other parts of the country.

Police have issued a correction confirming the offences took place between 2014 and 2018, rather than 2011 to 2023 as previously stated.

The court heard Power regularly gave cash to one of the boys while continuing to sexually abuse him over a number of years.

He also targeted a second teenage boy over a period of two years.

Power denied the offences but was convicted by a jury following a trial.

Jailed at Maidstone Crown Court

On Thursday, September 17, Power was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court to nine years and six months in prison.

He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and made subject to a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Emma Coghlan said: “Power groomed his two victims over several years. He saw nothing wrong with his behaviour, which makes him even more predatory and dangerous towards children. His sentence reflects his lengthy offending.

“I want to commend his victims for finding the courage to speak up and report what had been happening, and their bravery in providing evidence which ensured charges were brought and that Power was rightly convicted.”
