Police officers pull woman from River Thames
Two Kingston police officers have been praised for their bravery after they leapt into cold waters to rescue a woman who had fallen into the River Thames on Friday. Police were called to Portsmouth Road, Kingston at 1631hrs on Friday, 13 April, to reports of a woman in the river Thames toward Kingston. Two officers attended and could see that a young woman had been swept a considerable distance after she apparently fell into the river and was struggling. Without hesitation the officers entered the water and rescued the woman and brought her ashore. The officers provided first aid treatment at the scene before London Ambulance Service arrived and took her to a west London hospital. Her condition is stable, her family has been informed and are with her. Inspector Richard Jordan from Kingston said: “Both of the fine officers who responded to this call, acted quickly and bravely to help save this young woman. Their quick thinking and dedication to serving the public is typical of so many hard working response team officers who work 24/7 shifts and respond to a wide variety of emergency calls everyday.
