A teenage boy has tragically died and a man has been seriously injured following a devastating incident involving farm machinery in Malvern this morning.
A man, who was also injured during the incident, was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and rushed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital under emergency conditions.
West Mercia Police have confirmed they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has also been notified and is expected to carry out its own inquiry.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:
“Police are currently at the scene of a site near Blackmore Park Road in Malvern after a teenage boy died in an incident involving farm machinery.
A second male sustained injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing, and has been taken to hospital.
The Health and Safety Executive has been informed. We ask that the family’s privacy is respected during this extremely difficult time.”
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service added:
“We sent two ambulances, three paramedic officers, a BASICS emergency doctor, and the Midlands Air Ambulances from Cosford and Strensham to the scene.
Sadly, despite best efforts, nothing could be done to save the teenage boy and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
The tragedy has shocked the local community in Malvern, with many expressing sympathy and support for the family affected.
