Boy, 15, Busted with Imitation Gun After Scooter Theft in Nottingham
Teen Nabbed in City Centre
Police sprang into action after a report of an electric scooter stolen in Nottingham city centre in the early hours of Monday, 18 April. At around 2.45am, officers spotted a boy in St Peters Square acting suspiciously. On searching him, they found what looked like a firearm tucked into his waistband.
Imitation Firearm Turns Out to Be a BB Gun
Closer inspection revealed the gun was actually a BB gun — a replica, not real. But that didn’t stop police arresting the 15-year-old on suspicion of theft and possession of an imitation firearm in a public place. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Warning Issued Over Weapon Carrying
Sergeant Stephanie Clough of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Our officers responded quickly to the stolen scooter report and made a swift arrest after spotting the suspected firearm. This should serve as a warning that carrying weapons, including fake ones, is taken extremely seriously.”
She urged anyone who suspects someone is carrying a weapon to call 101 or talk to officers on patrol.
