Knife Attacker Jailed for Nine Years After Brutal Ramsgate Stabbing

Daniel Haine plunged a knife into a man’s back during a violent row on Ramsgate High Street in April 2022. He then tried to vanish by changing his look and ditching clothes and the weapon. But CCTV caught it all.

CCTV Snags Killer Despite Hooded Cover

Haine may have been dressed in dark clothes with his hood up, but the footage clearly showed his identity. After stabbing the victim, Haine fled the scene. Police tracked him down two days later, despite his desperate attempts to dodge arrest.

  • Coat and balaclava dumped nearby
  • Knife hidden in a flower bush
  • Facial hair shaved off to avoid ID

He refused to comment during police questioning about the attack or why he’d shaved his beard. But in court, the 26-year-old from Station Road, Ramsgate, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and knife possession.

Victim Left Fighting for Life

The victim suffered a punctured lung, and serious liver and diaphragm injuries. He spent a long time in hospital recovering. The brutal attack left lasting physical and mental scars.

Judge Smashes Haine with Nine-Year Sentence

On 14 October 2022 at Canterbury Crown Court, Haine was locked up for nine years. He will serve an additional three years on licence.

“This was a horrific attack leaving the victim with lasting physical and mental struggles, the result of a random violent attack,” said Detective Constable Flora Bainbridge. “I am pleased Haine acknowledged what he had done despite initially trying to get away with it by evading capture. I hope the sentence brings some comfort to the victim that Haine will be behind bars for a long time.”
