Tragic Baby Adiyat’s Last Struggle

Baby Adiyat Hossain tragically died after suffering horrific whiplash injuries inflicted by his own father, Mohammed Kabir Hossain. The 48-year-old was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to nine years in prison on November 28.

Adiyat went into cardiac arrest on June 10, 2022, following violent shaking. He battled for his life in intensive care for four months before doctors made the heartbreaking decision to switch off life support.

Father Found Guilty – Judge Slams ‘Selfish’ Dad

Judge Nicholas Lavender condemned Hossain, saying, “I’m not sure you intended to harm Adiyat, but you gave no conscious thought to the risk. Your selfish goal was to silence him — and you succeeded forever.”

The Shocking Truth: Panic, Lies & Abuse

  • Adiyat’s mother, Fatema Mansur, left the house at 12:04pm with the baby asleep and well.
  • Hossain was alone with Adiyat for just 13 minutes before panicking and calling his wife at 12:17pm.
  • He rang 999 eight minutes later, claiming Adiyat was fine but suddenly stopped breathing.
  • At first, Hossain denied shaking his son or causing injury.
  • On day 11 of the trial, he admitted shaking Adiyat to “revive” him — but the judge called this a lie, pointing to dangerous delays in seeking help.

Disturbing Signs of Prolonged Abuse

The court heard Adiyat’s injuries were horrific: bleeding inside his eyes and brain that cut off his breathing, six fractured ribs, broken shoulder blades, and a fractured right arm from repeated abuse.

Fatema Mansur broke down in court, saying, “I feel very sad and upset. As a mum, I’m heartbroken. I know what I have lost and will always think about Adiyat.”

Jail Time and What’s Next

Hossain, a UK resident for 19 years, will serve up to two-thirds of his nine-year sentence behind bars before potential release on licence. The devastating case has once again shone a light on the brutal reality of child abuse and its fatal consequences.
