From Attempted Murder to Walking Free

A British grandfather, Mark Gibbon, 62, from Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, has shocked after cutting a plea deal and walking free despite admitting to trying to drown his girlfriend — who also happens to be his daughter-in-law.

The lighting engineer, known for working with Ed Sheeran and Queen, was initially charged with second-degree attempted murder but pleaded guilty to battery. He also paid $1,300 in court costs and got his passport back with no jail time.

Pool Attack Foiled by Daughter’s Heroics

The terrifying attack happened at Florida’s Solterra Resort in Davenport last August. Gibbon allegedly pushed Jasmine Wyld’s head underwater repeatedly in a pool, leaving her with scratches and bruises.

Luckily, Wyld’s nine-year-old daughter jumped in to stop the assault, saving her mum from drowning.

Wyld, 33, is not only Gibbon’s girlfriend but the mother of his two grandchildren. She had previously been engaged to his son, Alex, 34.

Family Feud Explodes: Son Drives Porsche at Father

The family drama took another wild turn when Alex, furious over the affair, drove a Porsche at his own dad during a heated confrontation. Alex is now serving two years in jail for the incident after catching Wyld in his father’s bed.

Sources told the Daily Mail the son feels deeply betrayed by his dad’s relationship with the mother of his children. “There have been a number of issues within the family,” one insider said.

Daughter-in-Law Defends Gibbon, Social Services Involved

In a bizarre twist, Wyld begged prosecutors to free Gibbon, calling him a “good man” who “adores his family.” She told the court she trusts him completely despite the attack.

UK social services have now contacted Wyld following the public spat, with further involvement expected. She spoke about the impact, saying the case “has been made public knowledge to pretty much the entire world.”

Despite facing up to 15 years in prison originally, Gibbon’s plea deal has let him walk free — leaving a fractured family and a tangled web of betrayal behind.
