A lorry driver from Croatia has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a devastating crash that claimed the life of a beloved Ashford dad-of-two on the M20.
Fatal Crash on M20
Arran McManus, 36, from Ashford, was driving his black Nissan Qashqai when it collided with two lorries – a white MAN and a white Scania articulated – on the morning of Tuesday, 25 November.
The youth football coach and community favourite was pronounced dead at the scene. He was known as a “pillar of the community” and a devoted father.
Lorry Driver Faces Court
Zvonko Tomisa, 57, of Vidovec, Croatia, the driver of the MAN lorry, was arrested and treated for injuries but has since been discharged. On Saturday, he was formally charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Tomisa appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. He is due to face Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, 2 January 2026.
Heartfelt Tributes Pour In
“I am heartbroken to share that on Tuesday morning, Arran, my partner, my soulmate, and best friend, was sadly taken too soon from us,” said Arran’s partner, Ashleigh Devlin.
“Arran was our whole life and more. He was the most wonderful dad to our two incredible children, and he was so proud of them both and loved them deeply. He will be sorely missed by his entire family circle.”
The former Harvey Grammar School pupil was a coach at Kennington Juniors FC, who paid tribute saying:
“Arran embodied what it means to be a great coach, leader, and mentor. He was patient, kind, thoughtful, and inspiring, with an infectious enthusiasm for coaching and helping people.
“We’re all left numb and in shock that he won’t get to see where this journey would lead.”
The club has launched a fundraiser to support his family.
