Emergency Services Called to Collision in Newport
Police and Paramedics are attending a collision on Forest Road on the outskirts of Newport this afternoon (Monday)/ The collision has led to the main road to Yarmouth becoming blocked as a result of the incident. Southern Vectis have advised that the 14:45 Route 7 via Shalfleet will divert through Middle Road to Calbourne, Newbridge and pick up the normal route from the Horse & Groom pub. The collision involves two vehicles a silver Citroen Picasso and Green Rave 4. The Rear wheel of the Citroen has become detached and has closed the cross roads with Betty Haunt Lane and Whitehouse Road Police have advised drivers to find a suitable diversion. UPDATE: The main Forest Road has been reopened Officers from Hampshire and Isle of wight Joint Roads Policing and Armed Response Team remain at the scene awaiting recovery of the vehicle involved. It is not thought that those involved have been seriously injured UPDATE 1547. The two vehicles involved have been recovered by Police recovery contractors traffic was stopped for a short time whilst the vehicles were removed.
