A former police officer has been slapped on the Police Barred List after trying to muscle her way into a Cheltenham nightclub using her warrant card. PC Hannah Cooling resigned before the misconduct hearing but would have been booted instantly if she’d still been on the force.
Shady Move at Cheltenham Club
The drama unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, 23 February. Cooling tried to sweet-talk nightclub staff by flashing her police warrant card and claiming she was on an active operation. The East Gloucestershire venue wasn’t fooled and tipped off the cops.
Lies and Misconduct Exposed
When confronted by officers, Cooling flatly denied the whole thing. But a Professional Standards investigation proved otherwise.
At a fast-tracked misconduct hearing on 28 November, chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Arman Mathieson, Cooling was found guilty of multiple breaches. These included abusing authority, showing disrespect, discreditable conduct, and dishonesty.
Her name is now officially on the Police Barred List, barring her from any future police work.
Deputy Chief Condemns ‘Abuse of Position’
“While off-duty, PC Cooling attempted to abuse her position as a police officer to gain entry into a nightclub. She then lied about her actions when questioned by officers,” said Deputy Chief Constable Katy Barrow Grint. “This is a clear breach of the College of Policing’s Standards which every officer must uphold.”
