Ex-Cop Banned After Using Warrant Card to Muscle Into Cheltenham Nightclub
A former police officer has landed on the Police Barred List after trying to force her way into a Cheltenham nightclub using her warrant card. PC Hannah Cooling quit just before her misconduct hearing – but had she still been serving, she would have been kicked straight out.
Nightclub Snub: Cop’s Dodgy Door Dash
The drama went down in the early hours of Sunday, 23 February. Cooling flashed her police warrant card at nightclub staff, claiming she was on an “active operation” to get past the velvet ropes. The East Gloucestershire venue wasn’t having it and tipped off the police.
Lies Unravel and Misconduct Proven
When cops confronted Cooling, she denied everything. But a Professional Standards investigation busted her story.
At a fast-tracked misconduct hearing on 28 November, chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Arman Mathieson, Cooling was found guilty of abusing her authority, disrespect, discreditable conduct, and dishonesty.
Her name is now officially on the Police Barred List, banning her from ever working in policing again.
Deputy Chief Slams ‘Abuse of Position’
“While off-duty, PC Cooling attempted to abuse her position as a police officer to gain entry into a nightclub. She then lied about her actions when questioned by officers,” said Deputy Chief Constable Katy Barrow Grint. “This is a clear breach of the College of Policing’s Standards which every officer must uphold.”
