Surrey Police have confirmed a tragic incident in Lightwater, where a man and a child lost their lives in a serious collision. The devastating crash occurred on Red Road, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
At approximately 8:20 pm on Sunday, authorities were alerted to a collision involving three vehicles: a grey Range Rover, a blue BMW, and a white Audi. The collision resulted in fatal injuries to the driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s, and a child who was also a passenger in the vehicle.
In addition to the fatalities, two other individuals sustained serious injuries and have been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A 62-year-old man has been apprehended by Surrey Police in connection with the incident. He faces charges including causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and causing death by driving without due care while unfit through drink or drugs.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant Kent Police Rural Task Force are urging anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a report of dangerous driving in Rochester" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dashcam or helmet-cam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
