Shoppers were forced to abandon their cars last night after a fire erupted at the england/scotland/”>scotland/westfield-scotland/”>westfield/”>Westfield shopping centre in %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%%, london/”>East London. The incident occurred on September 13, 2025, prompting an urgent evacuation as plumes of black smoke filled the air.

Emergency Response

Approximately 70 firefighters and 10 fire engines were dispatched to the scene after the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% (LFB) received reports of the fire at 4:05 PM. The blaze, which affected 15 cars on an upper level of Car Park C, was brought under control by 5:54 PM.

Shopping Centre Operations

Despite the fire, Westfield Stratford will operate as usual today from 12 PM to 6 PM. However, Car Park C remains closed for safety assessments. A spokesperson for the centre stated on %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%%: "We thank our customers for their patience last night with disruptions caused to their visit."

Access for Affected Vehicles

Customers needing to retrieve their vehicles from Car Park C are advised to contact the shopping centre via email with their car registration details. Access will be facilitated where possible, but many vehicles remain within the cordon zone and are not immediately accessible.

Public Safety Advisory

The LFB has advised the public to avoid the area while crews continue to damp down the fire. The London Ambulance Service reported treating two individuals at the scene, both of whom were discharged shortly after.
