Police have arrested a fourth suspect following the fatal stabbing of a man in his 20s in Ewell.

Shocking Stabbing at Wheatsheaf Pub Alleyway

Officers were called to an alley near the Wheatsheaf pub on Kingston Road just after 3.30pm on Tuesday, 9 December. Reports had come in that a man had sustained stab wounds and was found at the scene.

Despite desperate efforts by police, paramedics, pub staff, and bystanders, the young man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support.

Suspects in Custody

  • Two boys aged 15
  • One 17-year-old boy
  • One 20-year-old man

All four have been arrested on suspicion of murder. The 20-year-old man has been released on bail, while the others remain in custody as the investigation continues.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who lost his life. At this stage, we do not believe anyone else is involved. We thank the community for their patience and are grateful to the Wheatsheaf pub staff and customers who tried to save him,” said Senior Investigating Officer DCI Kimball Edey of Surrey and Sussex Police Major Crime Team.

Police urge anyone who was driving or passing through the area around London Road, Ewell, Kingston Road near the Wheatsheaf and Queen Adelaide pubs, or towards the Ruxley Lane Junction between 3pm and 5pm on 9 December to come forward.

They are seeking any CCTV, dashcam, helmet cam, or mobile footage that could assist in the investigation. “Every piece of information, no matter how small, could be vital,” added DCI Edey.
