Adam David Wright, 39, has been locked up for life with a minimum of 24 years after savagely attacking his 77-year-old grandmother-in-law, June Henty. The chilling crime rocked Bishops Waltham and ended in tragedy after Mrs Henty spent six months fighting for her life.
Knife Attack Leaves Victim With Over 100 Wounds
On the morning of 23 December 2023, police were called to June’s home in Wickham. She was found with more than 100 lacerations across her face and body caused by a horrific knife assault carried out by Wright.
She suffered serious haemorrhages in her head and neck, along with a brain bleed. Despite six months in intensive care, Mrs Henty succumbed to her injuries on 14 June 2024.

Justice Served After Long Legal Battle
Wright was arrested the same day after Mrs Henty bravely named him as her attacker. Initially charged with attempted murder, the charges were upgraded to murder following her death.
He pleaded guilty at Portsmouth crown-court/" title="Crown Court" rel="nofollow">Crown Court on 27 February and was sentenced today, 27 November. Wright must serve at least 24 years behind bars before he can even be considered for parole – meaning a minimum of 22 more years after his time in custody.
