Tributes are pouring in for Councillor John Hills, a beloved figure in Greenwich politics, who passed away at the age of 86 after a period of illness on April 24. Representing the Mottingham, Coldharbour, and New Eltham wards, Councillor Hills was hailed as a selfless and dedicated public servant who tirelessly served his community for over two decades.

A member of the Conservative Party, Councillor Hills was first elected for the New Eltham ward in 2000 and went on to be re-elected in six consecutive elections. Throughout his 24 years with the council, he held various roles, including serving as the opposition group whip and opposition spokesperson for health and adult social care. Additionally, he served as the president of the Greenwich Conservative Federation for an impressive 15 years.
