Sussex Police have launched a manhunt after two back-to-back robberies rocked Shoreham on Saturday morning (10 May). Officers are appealing for help identifying a suspect who threatened shop staff with a hammer during both incidents.

The first robbery occurred at 7:00am at the Co-op on Ham Road, where a man brandishing a hammer threatened employees and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Just minutes later, a second robbery was reported at Shoreham News in Buckingham Road. There, a man matching the same description attempted to steal cigarettes, again threatening staff.

  • Race: White
  • Height: Approximately 5ft 11in
  • Build: Large and stocky
  • Hair: Copper-coloured
  • Clothing: Black hoodie, black tracksuit bottoms, black trainers

Police believe both incidents are linked and are actively pursuing several lines of enquiry.

Detectives are urging members of the public to come forward if they recognise the man or have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from the Shoreham area around the time of the robberies.

Anyone with information is asked to call 999 immediately and quote serial 270 of 10/05.

Alternatively, information can be submitted anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

No Injuries Reported

Thankfully, no injuries occurred in either incident, though staff were said to be left shaken by the encounters. Both crime scenes were attended by uniformed officers and forensic teams throughout the day.
