Tragedy struck Fazakerley on Friday evening as an 81-year-old woman was fatally hit by a car that fled the scene. The fatal collision happened around 4.15pm on Longmoor Lane, near Third Avenue.

The elderly victim had just popped out to the shops when she was struck by a dark-coloured vehicle. She was rushed to Aintree Hospital with serious injuries but sadly died shortly after arriving. Officers are supporting the devastated family at this heartbreaking time.

Police Launch Manhunt for Callous Driver

Merseyside Police are hunting the driver who failed to stop. Superintendent Siobhan Russell urged: “I would appeal to anyone who may have any information to come forward. The 81-year-old victim had only popped out to shops and now her family are trying to come to terms with her loss.”

She added a direct message to the culprit: “I would like to take this opportunity for the driver of the car to search their conscience and come forward.”

Witnesses and Dashcam Footage Needed

  • Police are reviewing CCTV and conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area.
  • They believe the car could have damage from the crash and may be parked or abandoned nearby.
  • Anyone with dashcam footage or who saw the incident at around 4.15pm on Longmoor Lane is urged to come forward.
