Jeep Crashes Into Restaurant in Chicago

In a tragic incident, a teenager is now fighting for his life after being struck by a Jeep that crashed into a suburban restaurant on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred in Hinsdale, where the vehicle collided with the Fontano Sub Shop and Deli, resulting in injuries to multiple people.

Officials report that the teenager is in critical condition after being hit by the Jeep shortly after 14.30. Additionally, four more individuals were injured in the accident, with three of them in serious condition. Witnesses recounted the terrifying moment when the Jeep, which had been at a car wash across the street, suddenly sped towards the restaurant, causing patrons to dive for cover.

Dominic Fontano, the owner of the restaurant, watched the surveillance footage of the incident and expressed the lasting impact it will have on him. He described the scene, saying, “There’s a couple of teens at the entrance…they just had gotten up. They just got up and ready to walk to the door when the car ploughed over two of them. The little boy was on the side of the street, got hit by the car, and the car carried him over to this side. I don’t think I’ll ever get that out of my sight.”

Authorities have interviewed the driver involved in the collision but have not yet revealed the cause of the tragic accident. The shock and devastation caused by the incident were evident in Fontano’s words: “It’s hard to explain…I am at a loss for words. The little boy was laying right where they’re hosing off, and the young lady teen was underneath the car on the inside.”

Jamie Lugo, who works near the restaurant, echoed Fontano’s sentiments, expressing her disbelief at the rare occurrence in their typically quiet community: “You never see stuff like this. It’s very quiet.”

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities have not provided any updates on the teenager’s condition since their initial report on Monday afternoon. It remains to be seen if charges or citations will be filed in relation to the collision.
