Child Sex Offender Mason Maxwell Jailed for Three Years
Mason Maxwell, formerly Kane Hutchison from Gateshead, has been jailed for three years following a Stockport Complex Safeguarding Team investigation. Currently of no fixed abode, Maxwell was convicted of multiple child sexual offences.
Name Change Couldn’t Hide His Crimes
Maxwell, originally from Gateshead, changed his name by deed poll and moved to Greater Manchester. There, he continued preying on vulnerable children. His charges included taking, making, and distributing indecent images and videos of children.
Sentenced at Minshull Crown Court
On Monday, June 24, Maxwell appeared at Minshull Crown Court and received his prison sentence. Alongside three years behind bars, he’s been placed on the sex offenders register for life and slapped with a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Investigation Launched in 2021
The probe began in 2021 after community intelligence raised alarm bells. Police raided Maxwell’s Salford address on Clowes Street in January 2022, seizing electronic devices. Disturbing images and videos of children were uncovered, and Maxwell was found to have been sharing these vile materials online.
Detective Constable Ben Swapp called Maxwell “a calculated and depraved individual.” Despite overwhelming evidence, Maxwell denied all accusations and showed no remorse for the harm caused to victims and families.
Police Appeal for Victims to Come Forward
Detective Swapp urged anyone affected by Maxwell’s crimes or who suspects they may be a victim to report. Specially trained officers and support partners are ready to help those in need, ensuring victims get justice and assistance.
