Man Charged After Knife Attack at Dartford Shopping Centre

Kent Police has issued an update following a violent incident at the Priory Shopping Centre in Dartford on Thursday, 27 March 2025, where a man was reportedly attacked with scissors.

The assault occurred at approximately 12.40pm, when a suspect, allegedly armed with scissors, injured another man during a confrontation within the shopping centre. According to police, security staff quickly restrained the suspect before officers arrived at the scene and made an arrest.

 

Victim Sustains Head and Finger Injuries

The victim was taken to hospital with wounds to his head and finger. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

Suspect Charged

Following the incident, Bassan Biro, 24, of Gillingham High Street, was charged with:

  • Attempted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • Possession of an offensive weapon
  • Affray

Biro has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, 28 March.

Police Investigation Ongoing

A spokesperson for Kent Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing and praised the swift actions of shopping centre security.

“Officers were called at around 12.40pm to reports of an assault at the Priory Shopping Centre.
A man was arrested at the scene and later charged. We continue to carry out enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
