A man in his 50s has tragically died, and six others were rushed to hospital following a suspected gas leak at a takeaway in england/england/bloxwich/”>bloxwich/”>Bloxwich, West Midlands.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Police and emergency crews raced to Cresswell Crescent on Friday evening after concerns were raised about a man’s welfare. Upon arrival, they found a man in his 50s who was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.
Seven others, including emergency workers, suffered suspected carbon monoxide poisoning and were treated on site, with several taken to hospital for further checks.
Properties Evacuated and Residents Return
Nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution. Thankfully, residents were allowed Backback into their homes by the early hours of Saturday after safety tests were completed.
“Nearby homes were evacuated but occupants have since returned. We will work with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the full circumstances.”

Councillor Coulson posted on social media: “I visited the scene after the tragic fatality. Residents were allowed back at about 3am and shops are open this morning. There is now only a small police presence.”
