A frantic search is underway off the Sussex coast after reports of a person overboard this morning near Newhaven, just south of Brighton Marina.
Emergency Call Sparks Major Rescue Operation
At 10:19am, HM Coastguard received an urgent alert about someone falling from a vessel. They quickly launched a multi-agency response to find the missing person.
All Hands on Deck: Lifeboats, Helicopters and Planes Join Hunt
- RNLI all-weather lifeboats from Shoreham and Newhaven sped to the scene.
- HM Coastguard rescue helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft scour the skies.
- Two nearby vessels have also joined the search in the water.
“At 10.19am this morning, HM Coastguard received reports of a person overboard from a vessel off Newhaven. RNLI lifeboats from Shoreham and Newhaven have been sent to search, along with an HM Coastguard rescue helicopter, a Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft and two nearby vessels in the vicinity. The incident is ongoing.”
