Ryan Kean, 41, of Orton Road, Coventry, was sentenced on Thursday (5 January) at Coventry Crown Court after being found guilty of burglary and attempted burglary. Kean attempted to break into a house in Eaton Close, Warwick, with a garden fork in July 2020. The occupant bothered him, and he fled empty-handed. A month later, Kean broke into a house on Myton Road in Warwick and stole a number of items, including jewellery. On CCTV, he was seen climbing over the fence to the property, then using a fork to force open a window and gain entry. Kean was identified as the suspect based on forensic evidence left on the garden forks, and he was arrested and charged as a result. “Burglary is extremely traumatic for victims and leaves a lasting impact,” said Detective Constable Christopher Pitt of Leamington Proactive CID. I’m relieved Kean is now in jail. “This sentence should reassure people about our commitment to combating burglary and prosecuting offenders.”
