Teenager Charged Following Attempted Robberies in Sheerness

The constables were on patrol in New House Lane at around 11.13pm on Tuesday 30 April 2024, when a black Volvo came to their attention.

They followed the vehicle to South Hill Road where it came to a stop, and a search was carried out under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The officers seized 28 bags of cocaine along with cannabis, cash and two mobile phones, and a man was arrested.

On the following day James Bignell, of Gumley Road, Essex, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of criminal property (namely the seized cash).

The 32-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 2 May.
