At around 11 p.m. on March 26, 2022, Tobias Clarke pulled out a blade during an altercation between a group of men and women at a club in Woodview, Cotgrave.
Later, the 35-year-old returned to the scene with another knife and lunged at several men with it.
Clarke, of Edmund Close, Greenhill, Sheffield, was sentenced to 16 months in prison at Nottingham Crown Court after being convicted of two counts of public knife possession and one count of affray.
The argument, which began as a verbal spat between two women, quickly escalated into violence between two groups of people on a night out.
Clarke was punched before being caught on CCTV with a large knife in his hand.
Moments later, the victim turned away, a patch of blood on his chest visible.
Clarke was then punched to the ground by the victim’s friends and forced to leave the club. The knife was eventually turned in and recovered by police.
Clarke then left the scene, only to return with another knife and his dog. A standoff ensued before one of the opposing group pushed Clarke, prompting him to pull out the blade.
Clarke was arrested by police before the second knife was recovered.
This violent incident could easily have had even more serious consequences,” said Detective Constable Nathan Wall of Nottinghamshire Police after his sentencing on January 24.
“It happened in a busy area where other people were just trying to have a good time. I’d like to thank the venue for its excellent CCTV system, which was critical to our investigation into Clarke.
As a force we treat all reports of knife crime extremely seriously and will always investigate reports thoroughly.
“This case emphasises the terrible consequences of carrying a knife.
“Every incident has the potential to be serious, which is why we keep working tirelessly to remove knives from the streets and educate people about the dangers of carrying them.”
