New Character Joins Call the Midwife as Series 14 Unfolds

The BBC has confirmed the arrival of a new character in Call the Midwife, adding another layer of drama and intrigue to the beloved series, now in its 14th season.
“In my first episode, I was filming a lot with the lovely Linda Bassett,” Vevers shared. “She was so kind, welcoming, and helpful. Playing a nun, I also had a lot of scenes with Jenny [Agutter] and Judy [Parfitt]. It was lovely to work with them and become one of the sisters at Nonnatus.

Sister Catherine is set to debut in episode four as she begins her midwifery qualification at Nonnatus House. The character will grapple with personal challenges and her spiritual journey, as hinted by the BBC.

What to Expect from Sister Catherine

The network teased: “Sister Catherine keeps her distress from most of her housemates, though Sister Julienne is aware of the situation. But the closer Catherine gets to taking her First Vows, the more afraid she becomes. Is she doing the right thing? Can a life lived in the service of God and strangers ever justify the pain she has caused to those who have loved her all her life?”

Fans React to the New Addition

Fans have expressed excitement about the new storyline, eager to see how Sister Catherine’s journey unfolds and how she integrates into the close-knit Nonnatus House team.

What’s Next for Nonnatus House?

With Call the Midwife continuing to tackle poignant storylines and explore the lives of its cherished characters, the addition of Sister Catherine promises to bring fresh dynamics to the show.

Stay tuned for episode four to see Molly Vevers’ debut and discover how Sister Catherine navigates her path at Nonnatus House.
