A Doncaster woman has spoken out about the nightmare she endured at the hands of her violent ex-partner. “A life of domestic abuse is not a life – it’s an existence under someone else’s shadow,” she says.
Christopher Chapman’s Violent Rampage
Christopher Chapman, 45, from Bessacarr, was jailed after a chilling attack on his ex. He kicked, punched, and strangled her right in front of her terrified daughter. The child bravely dialled 999, putting an end to the abuse.
Justice Served at Sheffield Crown Court
Doncaster’s Domestic Abuse Team acted swiftly. Armed with CCTV footage, witness statements, and solid evidence from family members, the jury saw through Chapman’s lies and found him guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation. Chapman was sentenced to three years and three months behind bars last Wednesday (1 April).
Support for Survivors
The victim and her children received ongoing help from specialist police officers and an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA), experts who provide vital crisis and trauma support to those at high risk.
“Thanks to the courage of the victim and the help of the DA team and witnesses, justice has been done,” said a spokesperson.
