Drug Dealing Suspect Arrested and Charged in Brighton

A man has been charged and remanded in custody following reports of drug dealing in the Regency area of Brighton.

Officers initially arrested the 40-year-old man on May 10 on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. After being bailed while further investigations were conducted, the man was re-arrested on Thursday, September 19.

Muhammed Ahmed, of no fixed address, was charged the same day with multiple offences, including being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, possession of a Class A drug, and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

Ahmed appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, September 26, where he was remanded in custody. His next court date is set for October 18.

Detective Constable Gavin Harper commented on the case, saying, “Drug misuse doesn’t just affect those directly involved, it can have a damaging impact on entire neighbourhoods, leading to crime, anti-social behaviour, and undermining the wellbeing of local residents.”

The police urge residents to report any drug activity. Reports can be made online, by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
