An offender from Folkestone has been jailed just one day after being caught committing a series of vehicle crimes in the town.
Kent Police were called to the Broadmead Road area around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, 3 October 2024, after receiving reports of someone breaking into vehicles. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that three vehicles had been targeted, with various items such as a parking badge, phone chargers, and sunglasses stolen. A folding lock knife was also found and seized.
Within 15 minutes of arriving at the scene, officers arrested Daniel Morrison, 33, of no fixed address.
On Friday, 4 October, Morrison appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to charges of criminal damage, theft, vehicle interference, and possession of a knife in a public place. He was immediately sentenced to 22 weeks in prison.
PC Phoebe Cutter said: “Morrison brazenly stole and damaged other people’s property with no regard for the victims and the distress it would cause them. I’m pleased he has been sentenced swiftly and will spend time in prison, making it clear we will not tolerate this kind of criminality, nor the presence of knives, on the streets of Kent.
