An axe-killer attempted suicide in the dock yesterday after a judge sentenced him to 21 years in prison for the brutal murder of his wife.

In dramatic scenes at Norwich Crown Court, Rafal Winiarski, 42, produced a concealed blade and slashed at his wrists in front of the judge, lawyers, and court staff.
