Prince Andrew has suffered a major royal snub. King Charles III has cancelled two of the Duke of York’s most prestigious honours, wiping them from the record books.
Knighthoods Cancelled: Order of the Garter and Royal Victorian Order
The monarch has annulled Andrew’s appointment as a Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter, which he had held since 2006. His name will be removed from the order’s official register – a humiliating blow for the once-prominent royal.
Charles didn’t stop there. He also revoked Andrew’s 2011 Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. These moves come after Andrew lost his remaining royal titles, leaving him a commoner stripped of royal status.
Military Ranks Axed but Falklands Medal Stays
The Government, via Defence Secretary John Healey, confirmed that Andrew’s honorary vice admiral rank has also been scrapped. However, Buckingham Palace revealed the King will not take away Andrew’s Falklands War campaign medal.
