A 42-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of 63-year-old Charlie Prodromou following a fatal assault in Lewisham High Street.

Court Appearance

Paul Tallant, of Eltham, appeared in Bromley Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, March 3), where he was formally charged with murder. He was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, March 5.

Incident Overview

The Metropolitan Police were called at 8:39 PM on Saturday, March 1, to reports of an assault in Lewisham High Street.

Officers and paramedics responded to the scene and found Charlie Prodromou, 63, with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police believe the assault took place following a disturbance at The Watch House pub in Lewisham.

Arrest and Investigation

A 42-year-old man was arrested nearby shortly after the incident on suspicion of murder. He was later charged as above.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.

Appeal for Information

Police continue to appeal for witnesses who were in the Lewisham High Street area or inside The Watch House pub at the time of the incident.
