A 21-year-old woman has been charged with murder and attempted murder following two violent incidents in Bow on Saturday night (November 23), which left a man dead and two women injured.
Fatal Stabbing on Navenby Walk
Police were first called shortly after midnight to a property on Navenby Walk, E3, to reports of a stabbing. Officers and paramedics found Alan Geary, 46, suffering from serious knife wounds. He was rushed to the hospital but tragically died from his injuries. His next of kin have been informed.
Initially, two men, aged 45 and 23, and a 21-year-old woman (not the suspect), were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. However, all three were later released without charge.
Second Incident Hours Later
A few hours after the first incident, police were called back to Navenby Walk to another address on the same road, where a 56-year-old woman had been stabbed. Emergency services treated her injuries, and she was taken to hospital. Fortunately, she has since been discharged.
Woman Charged
Fatima Umar, 21, was arrested in connection with the second stabbing and subsequently charged with both incidents. She faces charges for the murder of Mr Geary and the attempted murder of the 56-year-old woman.
Umar appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 25, and was remanded in custody. She is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, November 27.
Investigation Ongoing
Specialist Crime detectives are leading the investigation into the events on Navenby Walk. Police have not disclosed a possible motive or the relationship between the suspect and the victims.
