A man linked to the murder of Robbie Lawlor has been remanded in custody following a brief High Court hearing in Dublin.

Jonathan Gill Arrested on UK Warrant

Jonathan Gill, 44, arrested under a UK extradition warrant, faces charges not only for the murder of 36-year-old Lawlor but also for allegedly possessing a 9mm pistol around the time of the killing in April 2020. Gill was escorted by armed officers from Clontarf Garda Station to the Four Courts in the city centre at about 11am. Wearing glasses, a black long-sleeved top, and beige shorts, he remained mostly silent during the hearing, only confirming he could hear Judge Barry O’Donnell.

Details of Arrest and Charges

Detective Sergeant Frank Lamb of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Extradition Unit told the court that Gill, also known as Jack Gill, was arrested on Malahide Road, Clontarf last Thursday at 4:50pm after being informed of the arrest warrant. Gill was taken to Clontarf Garda Station, where the extradition details were explained. Northern Irish authorities want to charge him with Lawlor’s murder on April 4, 2020, and possession of a firearm between April 2 and 5 of that year.

Next Steps and Official Statement

Gill was remanded to Cloverhill Prison and is due to appear in the High Court again on April 21 for the extradition hearing. The court also noted that the defence should receive notice if Gill applies for bail. Following the hearing, armed guards escorted Gill from the Four Courts. A Garda spokesperson said: “The Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) has been working jointly with the Police Service of Northern Ireland on the investigation into Robbie Lawlor’s murder. On Thursday, 2nd April 2026, a male in his 40s was arrested in Dublin under a Trade and Cooperation Agreement extradition warrant to face charges in Northern Ireland.”
