A major collision has slammed the M3 near Winchester Services this morning, leaving the motorway closed and chaos on the roads.
Serious Crash Closes M3 Southbound
Emergency crews rushed to the scene after a car and van collided and overturned at junction 8, near Winchester Services on the southbound side. Two people suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital.
Massive Traffic Chaos and Diversions
The southbound carriageway is completely shut at junction 8, with lane 2 on the northbound side also closed. Highways England traffic officers are helping drivers held up by the closure.

Police Confirm Serious Injuries
“We are currently dealing with a serious collision involving a car and a van at junction 8 on the southbound carriageway,” a Hampshire Police spokesperson said. “Two people have been seriously injured and taken to hospital.”
“The southbound carriageway closure will remain for most of the morning. Lane 2 northbound is also closed but expected to open sooner.”
