UPDATED:Man’s body recovered in Portsmouth Harbour

A man’s body has been recovered from Portsmouth Harbour this morning. The discovery comes five days after a passenger was seen jumping from a Wightlink ferry. A major search was launched after Wightlink staff called a Mayday call and launched a rescue boat in attempt to find the man. Despite an extensive search by the rescue services a body was recovered this morning. Police have yet to release the identity of the man. It is understood the man’a body was discovered by an MOD police launched. Hampshire and Ministry of Defence police officers were called at 7.16am after the body was found in the water close to Haslar Wall, Gosport. The Gosport and Fareham inshore rescue were called to assit in the recovery of the man. Hamspshire Police have said they have been asked to prepare a file for the Portsmouth Coronary.
