Marshall Taylor, Formally Known As Mark Benjamin, Was Sentenced To Eight Years In Prison For A Number Of Sexual Offences Against Children

Marshall Taylor, formally known as Mark Benjamin, was sentenced to eight years in prison today (30/01) at Swindon Crown Court for a number of sexual offences against children.

Taylor, 56, of Wain Close, Pennarth, Glamorgan, was a resident of Pine Close, Rudloe, Corsham at the time of the offences.

He changed his name via deed poll after his arrest.

His home was searched on May 20 of last year, and several electronic storage devices were seized.

More than 1,500 indecent images, including those of children and the most offensive category, were discovered on these devices.

Furthermore, two videos of child abuse were discovered, to which Taylor later pleaded guilty, as well as two counts of sexual touching of a child.

He also admitted to making a third video of abuse and having Category A, B, C, and extreme images in his possession.

Officers tracked down the boys in the videos, who are now adults. One was in favour of the investigation and provided a statement about his abuse.

Taylor was found guilty of causing a child to watch a sexual act and two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity by a jury at Swindon Crown Court on December 15, 2022.

Taylor went on to view and possess more extreme images while on bail.

He was sentenced today for ten counts and given an eight-year prison sentence, as well as a sexual harm prevention order that will last until 2038.

I am very happy with the guilty verdict and hope that this brings closure to the victims,” said DC Simon Rogers, the officer in charge of the case.

“Taylor is an extremely dangerous individual and he poses a serious risk to the public. I applaud the custodial sentence imposed today.

“Taylor took his time gaining these boys’ trust and grooming them to believe that his behaviour was normal.

“I’d like to commend them on their bravery.

“I encourage all victims of sexual violence, no matter how recent, to feel comfortable coming forward and speaking to the police.”
