Medway Motorist Charged with Serious Assault After Alleged Hit-and-Run

A motorist accused of deliberately striking a man with his car in Chatham has been charged with multiple offences and is set to appear in court.

Incident Details

The alleged serious assault took place on Sunday, 16 February 2025, when the victim was driving along New Road, Chatham.

According to police, the victim’s vehicle was involved in a collision with a Nissan Note. When the victim exited his vehicle, the Nissan reportedly moved forward and struck him, causing multiple injuries.

The driver of the Nissan is then alleged to have fled the scene, leaving the victim behind. Emergency services were called, and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Arrest and Charges

Following an investigation, police arrested a suspect the next day.

Jahmel Corbin, 37, of no fixed address, has since been charged with:

  • Causing grievous bodily harm with intent
  • Causing serious injury by driving dangerously
  • Failing to stop after a collision
  • Driving without a valid licence
  • Driving without insurance

Corbin was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, 18 February).

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact Kent Police on 101, quoting incident reference for 16 February.
