A person was taken to a major trauma centre following a broad daylight stabbing in Woolwich on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency services, including police and ambulance crews, were called to the scene on Hare Street at approximately 3 pm. The victim received immediate treatment at the scene before being transported to a major trauma centre for further care.
Police believe the attack occurred on Barnard Place, and a crime scene remains in place as investigations continue.
[block_2]A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 2.54 pm on Wednesday, 3 July to reports of a stabbing in Hare Street, Woolwich. We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast-response cars, an incident response officer, and London’s Air Ambulance. The first of our crews arrived on the scene in five minutes. We treated one person at the scene before taking him to a London major trauma centre.”
The Metropolitan Police also issued a statement: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service shortly before 15:00 hrs on Wednesday, 3 July to reports of a male stabbed on Powis Street, SE18. Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended. The man, who is believed to be aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening. At this stage, it is believed that he was attacked on Barnard Place. A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. A crime scene is in place.”
