Man suffers life-threatening injuries after Birmingham collision

West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses after a man has suffered life threatening injuries following a collision in Birmingham last night (13 Jan).

Officers were called to the junction of Belgrave Middleway and Highgate Road at around 6.30pm to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in a serious but stable condition.

The vehicle involved fled the scene.

Shortly after, officers spotted a vehicle being driven dangerously.

We traced this to an address and arrested two men, aged 39 and 27 on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The men remain in custody for questioning.

Det Sgt Julie Lyman, from our serious collision investigation unit, said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and recalls seeing a collision or was travelling on the road with a dash cam to contact us.

“A man has suffered traumatic injuries and we need to piece together what happened.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with dash cam footage is urged to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or call 101 quoting 3250 of 13/01/24.
