Armed Police Fail to Catch Aggressive XL Bully Dog on the Loose in Sheffield
An aggressive XL Bully dog is still at large in Sheffield after armed cops tried and failed to capture it. The drama unfolded late Thursday evening in the Walkley area.
Gunshots Fired and Chaos on Daniel Hill Street
At around 10:04 PM, South Yorkshire Police rushed to Daniel Hill Street following reports of gunshots outside a house. Officers found smashed vehicle windows and learned shots had been fired from outside the property.
When officers entered the house, they were confronted by the aggressive XL Bully. One officer fired a shot at the dog, but it bolted and vanished.
Linked Road Collision and Shootings in Rivelin
In the early hours on Friday around 3:11 AM, police responded to a road traffic collision in the Rivelin area involving a motorbike and a silver Volkswagen Golf. Shots were fired at a man during this incident as well.
Police believe these two incidents are connected. Both Daniel Hill Street and Rivelin Road remain cordoned off while detectives investigate.
Three Arrested in Connection With Shooting and Theft
- 37-year-old man arrested for attempted murder
- 39-year-old woman arrested for possession of a firearm
- 36-year-old motorbike rider arrested for theft of a motor vehicle
The motorcyclist suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
Aggressive XL Bully Still Roaming Free
During raids, police seized two dogs, including an XL Bully, but a third XL Bully remains loose after fleeing in the Hillfoot area of Sheffield. The captured dogs are now in police kennels.
“We’re asking for the public to be vigilant for an XL Bully that could be loose in our communities. If you see the dog, do not approach it. Please call 999 immediately,” said a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson.
Police Urge Public to Stay Alert as Search Continues
“We are doing everything possible to locate the dog or find those who may be sheltering it. Please remain vigilant and report any sightings immediately,” said Chief Superintendent Jamie Henderson.
Residents are warned not to approach the dog if spotted. Anyone with information should call 999 or 101 quoting incident number 948 of 3 April 2025.
Police continue extensive searches and patrols across affected Sheffield areas. Locals are urged to stay cautious and report any suspicious activity immediately.
