Police Dog Assists in Range Rover Theft Apprehension in St Leonards

A skilled police dog played a crucial role in apprehending three individuals involved in the theft of a Range Rover in St Leonards. The vehicle’s owner reported the theft from his driveway in the early hours of Saturday, March 2. Quickly, the stolen Range Rover was located by Hastings Response officers at Crowhurst Recreation Ground.

As the police approached, the suspects fled, with one being promptly captured by the responding officers. In a remarkable display of teamwork, PD Tsar, a four-year-old German Shepherd, alongside handler PC Toby Spires, successfully tracked down another suspect concealed within thick brambles.

Subsequently, a third participant in the crime was detained. During the operation, officers confiscated several mobile phones and tools believed to be employed in stealing keyless entry vehicles. PC Spires highlighted the efficiency and dedication of PD Tsar in locating the hidden suspect, underscoring the dog’s passion for its duties.

Sussex Police have taken into custody a 21-year-old man, a 19-year-old man, and an 18-year-old man, all suspected of vehicle theft. Additionally, the oldest suspect faces charges related to drug possession. While investigations continue, all three suspects have been granted bail.
