Two teens are still missing after a car carrying five youngsters crashed into the River Nene near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. The terrifying smash happened at around 8.20pm on Tuesday.
Five Teens In Car Plunge Into River Nene
The car was heading south on North Brink in Wisbech St Mary’s when it suddenly left the road and plunged into the river. Inside were five teenagers aged 16 to 18 — two boys and three girls.
Three passengers, two girls and one boy, managed to escape the sinking vehicle. They were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Two Teens Still Missing as Major River Search Underway
Cambridgeshire Police confirm a teenage boy and girl remain unaccounted for. A large-scale search operation is underway, with emergency services including divers scouring the river for the missing teens.
The road near the crash site remains closed as the hunt continues. On Wednesday afternoon, at least a dozen emergency workers were seen at the riverbank, alongside a white forensic tent and numerous emergency vehicles.
Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Witnesses
Officers are pleading for anyone who saw the crash or caught it on dashcam to come forward immediately.
“We need any information to help find the missing teenagers,” a police spokesperson said.
