London crime boss slammed with 15 years for running huge crack and heroin empire
Gang Kingpin Locked Up for 15 Years
The ruthless ringleader of a major organised crime gang that flooded London’s streets with crack cocaine and heroin has been jailed for 15 years. Mohammed Abdul Bakye, 45, was handed the lengthy sentence after a painstaking investigation by the City of London Police’s Serious Organised Crime Team (SOCT).
A total of 33½ years in prison has been dished out to gang members so far, with two crooks still waiting to hear their fate.
Massive Police Operation Brings Down ‘Reeko’ and ‘Green Eyes’ Drug Lines
The probe, spanning May 2022 to August 2023, exposed a sophisticated drug network shipping Class A substances across London. The gang’s notorious ‘Reeko’ and ‘Green Eyes’ lines flooded the streets with crack cocaine and heroin.
During raids on August 6, 2023, cops seized:
- £45,000 worth of Class A drugs – including pre-packaged crack, heroin, and MDMA
- A sawn-off shotgun, ammunition, and a silencer
- Multiple phones tied to drug deals
Sentences Handed Down
- Mohammed Abdul Bakye, ringleader – 15 years for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and possession of a prohibited firearm. He will face a Serious Crime Prevention Order on release.
- Goulger Ahmed, 42 – 2 years 11 months for running drug lines and delivering drugs
- Nazimul Islam, 43 – 4 years as a street dealer
- Naseem Ahmed, 22 – 5 years 1 month for controlling the ‘Reeko’ line and mobilising others
- Muhammed Ismail Ahmed, 24 – 6 years 6 months for packaging drugs and supplying Bakye
- Molan Miah, 44 – awaiting sentencing for overseeing the ‘Green Eyes’ line
- Imran Ahmed, 22 – awaiting sentencing as supervisor of drug operations
Detective Constable Jared Fortune, who led the probe, said: “Bakye was the head of this violent and exploitative gang, which used children and vulnerable people to peddle the most destructive substances, crack and heroin, across London.”
Police Celebrate Major Crackdown Victory
The City of London Police’s Serious Organised Crime Team hailed the takedown as a huge win against drug crime. DC Fortune added:
“This investigation has stopped tens of thousands of pounds worth of drugs hitting London’s streets. These criminals will now face the full consequences of their actions.”
The SOCT is continuing its fight against organised crime, targeting drug traffickers, human traffickers, and money launderers to keep London safe.
What’s Next?
- Two gang members will be sentenced soon
- Police are working to disrupt linked drug networks
