A convicted murderer has admitted stabbing his pregnant girlfriend 19 times. Shaine March, 47, snapped after being released from prison for a previous murder.
Victim Was Four Weeks Pregnant
Alana Odysseos, 32, had just discovered she was four weeks pregnant with her third child before she was fatally attacked in her Walthamstow home in East London last July.
Witnesses heard terrible arguments between the couple just hours before the attack over whether to abort the unborn baby. Alana was heard saying: “I don’t want to kill my baby.”
March’s Violent Past Comes to Light
March had pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility but refused to admit murder—until Friday’s dramatic U-turn at the Old Bailey. He now admits to the full murder charge.
She died on the ground despite police and paramedics’ efforts. March fled the scene but later appeared at a nearby café covered in blood, telling staff he had killed his wife and unborn child.

He recorded a voice note to his mother: “Mum, I just killed a woman, and I’m going back to jail.” Police say he told them, “I did it. I killed her Alana Odysseos. I killed her hahahaha.”
As he was placed in a police van, March shocked onlookers by demanding to be sent back to jail, calling himself “scum” who deserved to be locked up.
Sentencing and Next Steps
March was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing, scheduled for October 31. Prosecutors are expected to push for a whole-life order with no chance of release. The judge lifted reporting restrictions on March’s previous conviction after his guilty plea.
Family Reacts
Alana’s family expressed gratitude to the Metropolitan Police investigators and prosecutors as they left the courtroom, visibly shaken but seeking justice.
