In a concerning trend, Lewis Gilder has become the seventh prisoner to abscond from HMP Sudbury within a span of four months. Gilder, who did not return following a period of temporary release on licence from the open prison on Friday, is now the subject of a widespread appeal for information.

Convicted at Leamington Crown Court in 2019, Gilder is serving a nine-year and nine-month sentence for conspiracy to supply drugs and driving while disqualified. The 40-year-old, standing at approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, possesses distinct features such as brown hair, brown eyes, a scar on his knee, and tattoos on his hand and neck.
