Samurai Sword Rampage: Teen Murder Suspect Faces 2025 Trial
Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, 36, is the prime suspect in a brutal samurai sword attack that left 14-year-old schoolboy Daniel Anjorin dead. If Monzo pleads guilty to murder, his trial might not start until February 2025.
Five Attacks in 20 Minutes: Chaos in Hainault
The horror unfolded on April 30 as Daniel walked to school. Monzo, a dual Spanish-Brazilian national living in Newham, allegedly ran up behind him and slashed fatal wounds to his neck and chest. This was just one of five violent attacks in 20 minutes across Hainault, with Monzo accused of also injuring four others – including two police officers.
Grim Court Details: ‘Largely Decapitated’ Victim
At a court hearing, prosecutor Tom Little KC revealed the gruesome facts: Daniel was “largely decapitated” during the savage assault. The post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as “sharp force trauma to the head.”
Eyewitnesses told how Monzo crashed a van into a fence before attacking Daniel from behind. When police arrived to intervene, Monzo allegedly turned violent on them too. His rampage ended only after breaking into a nearby home, attacking the occupants, and being arrested.
Charged with Murder and More
Monzo faces multiple charges including Daniel’s murder, attempted murder, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed weapon.
“We are devastated beyond words,” said Daniel’s heartbroken parents. “Thank you to the community for their support at this unbearable time.”
A vigil for Daniel drew over 300 mourners, highlighting the deep impact of this tragic incident on the local community.
