Teen Injured in Eastbourne Bus Stabbing

Police have launched an urgent witness appeal following a violent incident on board a bus in Eastbourne, in which a teenage boy was assaulted and sustained a stab wound.

The incident occurred around 7.40pm on Saturday, April 5, on the number 1 Stagecoach service in Cornfield Road, near the Co-op store in the town centre.

According to Sussex Police, the victim — a teenage boy — was approached and attacked by a group of other teenage boys. He sustained an injury “consistent with a stabbing” and was taken to hospital. Thankfully, the injury was not life-threatening and the boy has since been discharged.

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and grievous bodily harm (GBH). He has been released on police bail while investigations continue.

In response to the incident, Sussex Police have increased patrols across the town centre to reassure the public. Officers are also monitoring online discussions and have urged the public not to speculate about the attack on social media, warning that this could hinder the ongoing investigation.

Police Appeal
Witnesses or anyone with information related to the assault are urged to contact Sussex Police online or call 101, quoting serial number 1234 of 05/04.
